Chemicals and Waste incident Response and Advice

Emergency Response and Advice for the Chemicals & Waste Industries

Orange “Hazchem” placards are required for all bulk products classified as hazardous for transport for journeys made within the UK. The emergency number shown on the placard should, ideally, be answered by someone who can provide specialist advice on the products being shipped. When the emergency services call the number they expect to be able to speak with a person with knowledge of the product(s) concerned and an understanding of what is required when dealing with incidents involving the products – this is a legal requirement.

The Solution
The 24-7 Response Emergency Line gives direct access to our Incident Advisors who have immediate access to information on the chemicals, or waste streams, being transported. Pro-active advice is given to on-scene responders on how to resolve an incident safely.

Pro-active advice is given to on-scene responders on how to resolve an incident safely.  For example, the caller may seek advice on the correct PPE to wear, or ask for an opinion on what the risks are to the environment.  Clean-up contractors may also need to know what type of vehicle is need for a tank transfer.

At 24-7 Response, we are uniquely positioned to provide a complete Level 1, 2 and 3 response service throughout the UK for insured companies.
